thrifting: with the beatles

this coffee table book is a must for all die-hard beatles fans out there.  it chronicles beatlemania in the early 60s by the band's official photographer, robert "bob" whitaker.  i picked this one on booksale at sm southmall for 1850 pesos, which was way over my budget.  but, fortunately enough, the extremely kind cashier gave me an employee discount.  must be my lucky day!

kultura filipino: acacia dishware

oh boy, i couldn't get enough of these large-sized acacia bowls from kultura filipino!  i found them on sale at sm southmall, so i grabbed all the remaining items on display.  i especially adore the wooden acacia bowl and ladle with ethnic details.  i went over my budget on this one, but it's been quite a while since i purchased something for our kitchen.  besides, seeing these beauties everyday will surely bring smile to my face.

diy: modern vintage gallery wall

for this diy modern vintage gallery wall, i gathered all our existing mirrors and wall decors so i could decide whether they will fit my desired look or not.  using old but well-loved home accessories helped me save a huge amount of cash.  the elizabeth mirror is from wilcon home depot, the two grey mirrors are from ikea, the clock is a second-hand find, and then i repurposed a vintage tray to add dimension and spark curiosity.  the rest of the mirrors were purchased on sale from gintong sining art center at festival mall, alabang.  i hung them randomly for a more casual collected vibe.

i then changed the unflattering daylight bulb to a vintage-looking edison bulb.  that made all the difference.

update:  i finally found the perfect piece to tie everything together, an empty wooden frame!

black and white with pops of color for brother

here's a black and white house with pops of color that i designed for my older brother.  the color palette is a little bit restricted, almost scandinavian.  before the makeover, the house used to have boring beige walls, so we decided to paint it in crisp white for a cleaner background.  we also created black and white wall mural in his formal living area to add depth and interest.  my brother picked most of the furnishings, and i only guided him since he has a tendency to over accessorize.

thrifting: vintage celine bag and h&m platform shoes

as promised, here are my recent thrifted goodies from king bhats!  the vintage celine bag is made from beautiful calf leather and shows minor wear and tear, which is pretty normal for its age.  i got the price down to 350 pesos from 380 pesos.  the platform canvas shoes are from h&m.  yes, it's a fast-fashion label, but buying it second-hand makes it more agreeable to my principles.  i got the shoes for a sweet price of 380 pesos.

thrifting: king bhats 08/14/2015

check out what i found on my recent thrift therapy.  they are all authentic and priced relatively low as compared to other thrift stores.  i have to say, no one can beat king bhats with regards to pricing.

yohji yamamoto bag, still with tag on.

vivienne westwood in her famous tartan pattern.

vintage italian drawstring bag.

leather speedy, moschino, and anna sui promotional bag.

i ended up with a pair of black platform sneakers from h&m (380 pesos) and vintage celine sling bag (haggled price is 350 pesos).  i will try to take decent photos of my items tomorrow after i clean them and all.

vedasto: leather coin purses

these itty-bitty purses from vedasto could be mistaken for real exotic skins - but - they are so much friendlier on the population of poor reptiles.  i only buy exotic skin leather goods if they were from a secondhand shop.  well, it's too early for deep thoughts, so let's just admire these beauties from my favorite local brand.

delicious, no?!

vedasto: convertible tooled leather bag

i just can't get enough of this ultra-gorgeous tooled leather bag from vedasto!  i had been wearing it for the past few days and received a boatload of compliments from random people.  i should note, however, that this baby is quite thick and stiff as compared to my other soft and smooshy vedasto bags.  i tried not to condition it because i'm afraid i might darken the leather and ruin the intricate details.  as you can see, this bag is all about the details.
