diy: decoupaged antique writing table

before you get started, please make sure your piece of furniture is not rare or collector's item.  do a quick google search or simply ask your  parents.  we have this neglected antique writing table that i planned to use in my walk-in closet turned small bedroom.  i adore the utilitarian appeal and character, but it could certainly benefit from a little je ne sais quoi.  decoupage treatment will be perfect for this bad boy.

gather your materials.  i used watered-down elmer's glue-all as my mod podge substitute, paint brush, and old book pages.

paint a thin layer of your homemade mod podge.  carefully place book pages while smoothing out air bubbles and wrinkles.  do not obsess over minor wrinkles because it will even out as it dries fully.

the next day, i applied two coats of polyurethane.  allow to dry.

voila!  perfect for my little blog spot!
